Hey Chris, Marc, while I do think a lot about scaling myself as a software engineer/manager I have no experience as an entrepeneur or in anything related to this stuff so please be skeptical about this advice.

Hearing about this business on the podcast, the end product is described in a very unique way and as such seems like it’s very hard to find expertise while trying to hire. However, describing the actual execution “scout locations, hire actors, create and set up props, deal with variables like weather/human error/etc” it seems like there should be a lot of expertise that Chis can take advantage of from the movie and tv industry. Using the movie/tv analogy Chris continues to be the “writer, producer and somewhat of the director” but the rest of the execution is handled by the rest of his staff.

Long term Chris could continue to look at the movie and tv production as an example of how to scale his organization. Becoming something akin to “network head”. Think Bob Iger / Kevin Feige ensuring quality and consistency but not necessarily doing the design/artistry of each and every production.

Although those examples might be from too big a studio, I hope the general point comes across and is at least a bit helpful.
